The Wake Up. is backpackers hostel offering budget accommodation in the heart of London. It is located just round the corner from Paddington station, where the Heathrow express terminates. Guestrooms and dormitories have high ceilings, are well maintained with simple furnishings and feature secure lockers, bed linen and a shared bathrooms.
The Hiccup. Bar is open late and has a large selection of bargain cocktails and beer. Nightly entertainment ranges from karaoke performances to pool competitions and once a month there is a special backpacker party. For a more relaxing evening, guests can sit in front of the 43-inch (98 cm) screen of the TV lounge where movies are shown once a week. Coin operated laundry and ironing facilities are located in the basement while phone cards, mobiles and sim cards are on sale, and the travel desk will provide information about London and help in planning trips round the UK. In addition, guests can leave their luggage in a free secure storage room prior to check in or after checking out. There is a fully equipped communal kitchen where guests can cook their own meals. There are also 24-hour Internet facilities with a fast connection. Don't let the number of rooms put you off - this is easily one of the best hostels in town. Firmly perched on the upper rungs of the budget accommodation ladder, Wake Up! London is 500-odd rooms of simple, clean, chilled-out accommodation housed within a collection of Victorian buildings. Room sizes vary, but all are carpeted, sheets are clean and a number of rooms have an attached bath option (including the dorms). The TV area has wooden floors, leather sofas and the feeling is that this place is just a little more swish than some of its rivals. Predictably, perhaps, there's lots of wordplay associated with the 'wake up' name: you can hook up! (get online), wash up! (do your laundry), cook up! (use the kitchen), and so on. All rather fun and tongue-in-cheek, but after several days of hanging out in hiccup! (the bar) you'll never want to see an exclamation mark again.
